Holiday Shopping? Use your $ to Fight Climate Change – In the News

Did you know the holiday season is the highest revenue season for big business? Let our friends at Climate Counts steer you in the right direction and join the Striding Shopper Campaign to support companies that are “striding” to take climate action and steer clear of companies “stuck” avoiding climate action. Show the kids in your life that you care about what is happening to our environment. Show them how, even during the holidays, we can do our best to be wise, conscientious, thoughtful and generous – at the same time!

Did you know that if 150 large companies reduced their current greenhouse gas emissions by just 5% it would be like taking 42 million cars off the road for a year?!

Big business spends millions of dollars lobbying our political system stalling comprehensive climate legislation and distorting climate change facts.

Business relies on the holiday season as the largest revenue stream (US Census Bureau) and if we show big business that corporate climate action matters with our purchasing power, they’ll pay attention. If we tell big business directly that we want to see them “striding,” they’ll hear us loud and clear.

1. Spread the word. Share the campaign with your friends via e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.
2. Spend your dollars with climate change in mind and support “striding” companies.
3. Raise your voice directly to companies via e-mail and Twitter from the ClimateCounts.org website, free iPhone app and smart phone apps telling them you’re paying attention.
