World Environment Day – It’s a wRAP, June 5, 2010

shutterstock_11388127 Established in 1972 by the United Nations, June 5th is officially World Environment Day , one more reason and opportunity to focus worldwide awareness and attention on our environment. According to the UN, the agenda for the day is: “to give a human face to environmental issues, to empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development; to promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues; and to advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and people enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.” Pittsburg has been chosen by the United Nations to be the North American Host City for this special day. Take a moment and acknowledge the day, ask your kids to tell you “one thing” that they want to do this weekend to help make the world a more sustainable place! And don’t forget to share your “one” special thing with them too!
